Two Israeli Brothers Arrested for Phishing Fraud, Bitfinex Hack

The Israeli Law enforcement cyber unit arrested two brothers, Eli and Assaf Gigi, for allegedly perpetrating a multi-calendar year phishing plan and participating in a 2016 hack of Bitfinex. Israeli news outlet Ynet reports the two allegedly stole around $100 million in cryptocurrency.

They would acquire the traders’ login and wallet details and use it to transfer the resources saved on legit exchanges to their have accounts.

Law enforcement allege they may perhaps have employed other practices as effectively, like dropping inbound links to wallet administration software that after downloaded would let entry to the victim’s resources.

During a raid of Eli’s house the Israeli law enforcement seized a single of his crypto wallets, which contained less than the suspected total of stolen resources. They also observed two luxurious cars.
