Social media system Reddit is organizing to reinstate cryptocurrency as a payment option for its gold members – and this time bitcoin would not be the only option.
In an job interview with Cheddar on Thursday, the site’s main technology officer, Chris Slowe, claimed that, whilst bitcoin’s spiking transaction expenses and an integration problem with its cryptocurrency payments processor Coinbase had led to Reddit dropping bitcoin as a payment method in March, the option is probable to return as soon as the system has done a redesign.
Furthermore, the CTO mentioned that the system is seeking to include additional crypto choices than just bitcoin this time round.
“We have been seeking at other cryptocurrencies. As a subject of simple fact, that was section of the problem with the higher expenses on the bitcoin community. We are seeking at ethereum and litecoin that are the two presented by Coinbase.”
As reported by Bit-coinTalk, Reddit spelled out in March that Coinbase’s final decision to disable its Service provider Device and substitute it with a new Coinbase Commerce product had been in section the lead to of the website halting its bitcoin payments option. Payment bugs influencing some people had also been an problem, Reddit claimed at the time.
Coinbase Commerce enables retailers to accept various cryptocurrencies and has other new attributes in comparison with the older product.
